CHICAGO BLUES REUNION featuring Barry Goldberg, Nick Gravenites, Corky Siegel and Harvey Mandel is a collaboration of Chicago music legends who defined the sound of their generation in the 1960’s – and helped create the historic transition in popular music from acoustic folk to electric blues-influenced rock.
Barry Goldberg performed with Bob Dylan and founded the Barry Goldberg/Steve Miller Band. Barry also wrote the hit, Got to Use My Imagination for Gladys Night and the Pips.
Corky Siegel is one of the world’s top blues harp masters, founder of the Siegel-Schwall Band with Blues icon Sam Lay, and creator of the national award-winning Chamber Blues project.
Gary Mallaber is the quintessential percussionist. He's worked with Bruce Springsteen, Van Morrison, the Steve Miller Band, Eddie Money, Jackson Browne and Bonnie Raitt.
Harvey Mandel is one of the best electric guitarists in the world. He's recorded with the Rolling Stones, toured with John Mayall, and played with Canned Heat at Woodstock.
Nick Gravenites wrote the classic blues anthems: Born in Chicago for Paul Butterfield and Buried in the Blues for Janis Joplin. He founded the Electric Flag with late blues guitar legend Mike Bloomfield.
Rick Reed began performing with Paul Butterfield, and countless legends. His recent international tours have been with Fabulous Thunderbirds alumnus Kim Wilson.

Jimmy Thackery And The Drivers
Whether Jimmy Thackery headlines a festival in South Dakota or jams for hours in one of numerous blues bars that dot the musical landscape, he'll always unleash an intense volley of rockin' blues guitar guaranteed to leave crowds emotionally spent. His double edged guitar dynamics allow him to fire off tracer missiles, bend a note so it will fit under a limbo bar, run off dive bomber riffs, and find space within the trembling of one stinging note. "I put all my senses on hold and find the zone and follow what's inside. There's an electricity from your mind to your heart to your fingers. You just try and remember to breathe." Between constant road work with his own band, producing the latest record by his Arkansas friends, the Cate Brothers, recording Whiskey Store with Tab Benoit and touring in support and playing various Nighthawks reunions, Thackery's plate is overflowing, and that's exactly how Thackery likes life - Overflowing.

Anthony Gomes
Canadian-born guitarist, singer, and songwriter Anthony Gomes is a critically acclaimed chart-topping artist who plays a style of modern electric blues that incorporates elements of rock, soul, R&B, and country. Born in 1975 in Toronto, Canada, to a Portuguese father and a Canadian mother, he began playing guitar in his early teens and moved to Chicago, IL, in the late '90s with hopes of establishing himself as a musician. After honing his craft on the Windy City club circuit, he moved to Nashville, TN, where he found a home for himself amid the city's renowned music scene. Gomes made his recording debut in 1998 on the Urban Electric label with Blues in Technicolor, followed by Sweet Stringin' Soul in 2000. In 2002 he switched to 33rd Street Records for Unity and proceeded to win the 2003 BluesWax Artist of the Year award. This accolade elevated Gomes to the top of the blues field, and consequently he was able to draw increasingly larger crowds to his live performances, which increased in frequency and scope. Though he didn't release another album until 2006, Gomes' endless touring kept him atop the blues field, as he continued to be nominated for BluesWax Artist of the Year awards several years in a row. Gomes' fourth album, Music Is the Medicine (2006), released on the Adrenaline Music label, was his first to chart, peaking at number four on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart. During his supporting tour of the album, the February 27, 2007, show at the Triple Door in Seattle, WA, was recorded and subsequently released in 2008 as the album Live. It features his band, the New Soul Cowboys, comprised of David Karns (bass, vocals), Peter Lang (drums), and Dylan St. John (keyboards, vocals). The first of his albums to document his on-stage performance ability, Live was his greatest commercial success to date, reaching number one on the Billboard Top Blues Albums chart.

Greg Crowe & The Scarlet Union
Crowe has been a contributing member of the Winnipeg independent music
scene since 1992. After playing guitar in upstart local hardcore outfit
XchoplogicX, Crowe turned to the ska idiom and hasn't looked back since.
From 1993-2000, Crowe fronted local ska outfit Whole Lotta Milka. During
those seven years, ‘Milka’ released two full length albums (Got Milka? and Al's Diner) for Montreal based Stomp Records.
After Whole Lotta Milka's departure from the Canadian ska scene in 2000,
Crowe set out to establish The Wedgewoods, a more ska-rock based group that released a self-titled record in 2002 on Bacteria Buffet Records. Also in 2000, Crowe began to play solo gigs, emphasizing the more traditional side of the ska genre.
After submitting three solo tracks (with full instrumentation – all played by Crowe himself) to Bacteria Buffet Records’ first compilation ‘Peg City Skank, Crowe formed a small band around his solo act to incorporate the full sound of the recordings to his live show. Greg Milka Crowe released his debut full length solo album (Bhakta Basics) on Bacteria Buffet Records in 2004 while continuing to perform and tour with The Greg Milka Crowe Band.
Crowe has since reformed the band to include not only ska and reggae, but also soul and rockabilly to present a truly diverse performance under the name of Greg Crowe & The Scarlet Union.
Today, in addition to teaching high school Music and
History at Nelson McIntyre Collegiate in Winnipeg, Crowe currently performs, tours, and records with The Wedgewoods and Greg Crowe & The Scarlet Union. The band has started to work on their next album, and is projected for a fall 2010 release. |
